The Submission Process

Stage 1: Pick a Category

The Journal accepts a variety of article types, you will need to select the best type for your submission from the following;

  • Short Form Articles: 2,000 - 5,000 words
  • Long form Articles: 5,000 - 10,000 words
  • Case Notes: No longer than 1,500 words
  • Book Reviews: No longer than 1,000 words
  • Practice Note: No longer than 1,000 words
  • Insight Article: No longer than 750 words


Stage 2: Produce your submission using our style guides.

In order to streamline the process, we make our style guide available from the outset. You should make use of our style guides in order to increase the chances of your submission being published in a timely manner.

Stage 3: Secure two verifiers

When you submit your finished submission for consideration, you will be asked to identify two verifiers who have considered your submission and concur with the position. These verifiers will be listed when the article is published. Verifiers must be persons of relevant professional standing. If you cannot find relevant persons then the Journal will seek to assist you. 

Stage 4: Submission

Stage 5: Peer Review

The Journal will arrange for a non-blinded (open) peer review, final comments from which will be published alongside the article when it is published. Stage 5 is repeated until at least one reviewer is content that the submission (together with any relevant amendments) is of publishable quality.

Stage 6: Publication

The Journal will publish your submission in the next convenient edition, or in appropriate circumstances as a one-off publication. It will be assigned a unique journal identifier, and be stored on the Journal's open access website.
